Frequently Asked Questions

  • A formal or medical referral is not required to bring your child to Wave & Wonder Therapy unless you are intending to claim a Medicare rebate. Simply contact us to make an inquiry and we will send you through a referral form to be placed on the waitlist.

  • The waiting period varies according to your availability and appointment preferences. Individuals with high flexibility may experience shorter waiting times.

  • Generally each OT session is 50 minutes includes 1:1 time between your child and the OT as well as providing feedback to the family. Additional time is allocated for preparation & documentation of the session. Therapy notes are generally provided via email after the session.

  • Our session fees are $193.99.

    Our session duration is 50 minutes face to face.

    Additional fees are charged for the completion of resource development, travel and reporting. This cost will be discussed and agreed upon prior to completion.

    Please note that this full session fee is claimable under NDIS plans from your child’s Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living budget. description

  • NDIS: We welcome clients using Self-Managed and Plan-Managed NDIS plans. Let your therapist know when scheduling your first appointment, and we’ll review your child’s NDIS plan to create a tailored therapy program.

    Private Health: Many private health funds cover Occupational Therapy under Extras Cover. Contact your health fund directly to confirm coverage.

    Medicare Rebates: For children with complex needs, you may be eligible for Medicare-rebated sessions (please obtain further information on Medicare rebates within our FAQ).

    Private Clients: All sessions will be invoiced on the day of the appointment and we request for payment within 7 days.

  • GP Chronic Condition & Management Plan (GPCCMP)

    Under the GP Chronic Condition & Management Plan (GPCCMP) - formerly known as Chronic Disease Management (CDM) or Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan, clients are eligible for 5 Allied Health sessions per calendar year and receive a rebate of $61.80 per session (updated annually). This is organised through your GP and requires a referral letter from the GP. Children with learning difficulties and motor or developmental delays are often eligible here if they meet the criteria.

    Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder & Eligible Disability

    The same rebate is available for Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder & Eligible Disability plan ( formerly known as Helping Children with Autism Program/Better Start Treatment ).

    This plan can be organised by a paediatrician or a psychiatrist, referred to by a GP. Clients are able to access 8 assessment sessions and up to 20 therapy sessions per lifetime.

  • Appointments are usually offered on the same time and day to suit individual commitments. Therefore, we have a minimum of 2 business days late cancellation/no show fee policy as we are unable to schedule appointments those on the waitlist on short notice. Please note that weekends and public holidays are not counted as business days.

    Our cancellation fee is crucial for the continued operation of our practice.

  • Our comprehensive OT assessment complements other diagnostic evaluations as we assess various developmental areas such as sensory processing, motor planning, gross motor, fine motor, emotional regulation and daily living skills. Our assessment helps us understand individual’s functional abilities and identifies any underlying challenges that may affect their participation and engagement. It provides a broader view of your individual needs, allowing us to create a more personalised therapy program.
