What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapy (OT) supports people of all ages to engage in activities that are meaningful to the individual and assist them to learn the necessary skills to their everyday tasks and activities.
Occupational therapists work with individuals to build skills, improve independence, and adapt environments so daily life feels more manageable and enjoyable.
Who do we help?
We help children as young as 3 years old up to young adults who may present with challenges in any of these areas:
~ Self-care skills e.g. dressing, undressing, toileting, eating meals, showering, sleep, brushing teeth
~ Fine motor skills e.g. handwriting, cutting, cutlery, threading beads, tying shoelaces, doing up buttons
~ Gross motor skills e.g. walking, running, skipping, kicking a ball, throwing and catching, riding a bike
~ Play and social skills
~ Sensory processing e.g. being sensitive (avoiding) or being under responsive (seeking) to noise, smell, light, taste, touch and/ or movement
~ Emotional regulation and positive behaviour
~ Skills required for school participation e.g. attention, concentration, homework
